A sharp rise in temperatures has been predicted across Odisha. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted an increase of 3-5°C in the coming days.
With the impact of Kalbaisakhi storms fading, dry and humid conditions are expected. The heatwave situation may intensify as maximum temperatures rise beyond normal levels.
Heatwave Conditions to Intensify Across Odisha
Temporary relief was experienced due to recent thunderstorms. However, temperatures remained below 40°C in most parts of the state. With the storms subsiding, heatwave-like conditions are likely to return, according to IMD.
A yellow warning for thunderstorms was issued for six districts. No further updates have been provided on its continuation. Rising temperatures remain a major concern as summer advances.
Weather Disruptions Caused by Kalbaisakhi Storms
Strong winds and sudden thunderstorms were reported in several regions. On March 22, severe storms uprooted trees and disrupted power supply in Mohana, Gajapati district. Sections of National Highway 326 were blocked due to fallen trees.
Before the storms, record-high temperatures were recorded in Boudh. It remained the hottest location in India for three consecutive days.
The IMD continues to monitor the evolving weather conditions. Odisha is expected to witness extreme heat in the coming days.
