Odisha Minister Suresh Pujari has expressed discontent about Opposition conduct in the Legislative Assembly. Disruptive behavior has been condemned, with calls for respectful discourse. Pujari noted significant concerns regarding actions that violate legislative norms. He reminded members of historical critiques from the judiciary concerning similar conduct.

Disruptions included shouting near the Speaker, ringing bells and attempts to climb the podium. Such acts, according to the Minister, undermine the integrity of the Assembly. Pujari emphasized the importance of respectful debate, especially on critical issues like violence against women.

Accusations were made regarding specific actions. “Opposition MLAs are blowing whistles and trying to climb the Speaker’s podium,” Pujari stated. He highlighted that such behavior is inappropriate for the assembly, especially with a female Speaker present. The Minister criticized actions perceived as damaging to public perception and society.

Through media channels, he encouraged the Opposition to participate in discussions. Pujari emphasized that a patient dialogue is necessary for progress. He warned the BJD and Congress about the potential alienation of public support due to ongoing disruptions.

The Legislative Assembly has faced turmoil from Opposition parties in recent days. This situation has hampered daily functions and regular business activities. Senior BJP MLA Jayanarayan Mishra further fueled controversy with accusations aimed at Congress.

Mishra revealed that an all-party meeting was convened, where Congress leaders indicated their disruptions were instructed by the party leadership. This admission has raised eyebrows regarding the true intent of the ongoing discontent within the Assembly.
